Short Film Works

“NOT ALONE”

A schizophrenic man waiting at a bus stop is suddenly attacked by a hostile figure. He desperately takes his medication, only to awaken and find the figure gone, leaving the audience questioning what was real and what was not.

This project was my first fully original film shot with industry-grade Blackmagic cameras and edited in Avid Media Composer. I also performed on screen as the antagonistic imaginary figure, allowing me to explore both sides of the story creatively. The film represents my first complete execution of a narrative project at a professional technical standard, from concept to final edit.

“TAKE HER OUT”

A man has repeatedly gambled and lost his money to the same woman during poker games. Under the guise of asking her out on a date, he orchestrates what appears to be a romantic gesture, only for it to be revealed as a calculated distraction to have her assassinated and reclaim his losses.

Originally written as a straightforward romance for a class assignment, I reinterpreted the script as a darkly comedic crime piece. This film marked the beginning of my stylistic identity: a sardonic but controlled tone inspired by Kubrick-era black comedy, using classical music to heighten irony and examine power, manipulation, and human behavior.

“THE HILL”

Three impoverished young men attempt to climb a hill street guarded by unseen snipers, believing the summit promises a better life. As they ascend, cooperation gives way to suspicion, ambition, and ultimately betrayal.

Developed as a condensed proof-of-concept for my larger script Zero Sum, this film required significant narrative compression due to time constraints. I intentionally shifted the tone from a purely dramatic social-class thriller to a sharper, hard-hitting black comedy, without losing the core thematic weight. I’m especially proud of how I used Prague’s architecture and geography to sell scale, tension, and world-building within a five-minute format.

“A TASTE OF FEAR”

A woman imagines chicken sounds while eating a bag of wings and laughs at the thought. Moments later, she is chased through the streets of Prague by a murderer, forcing her into a sudden reversal from consumer to prey until she narrowly reaches safety.

This was my first project where I took full responsibility for cinematography and camera operation in addition to directing, writing, and editing. The film blends black comedy with suspense, using a tonal shift to reframe perspective and vulnerability. While playful on the surface, it can also be read as a subtle commentary on empathy and the ethics of consumption.

“Zero Sum” | Script & Concept

Zero Sum expands on the ideas introduced in my Prague short film The Hill, which served as a proof of concept for this larger narrative world. While The Hill explored these themes through a compressed, satirical lens, Zero Sum is conceived as a more serious, emotionally grounded work intended for a Black Mirror–style television episode or a full-length feature film.

Set within a rigidly stratified society where physical elevation determines economic and social worth, Zero Sum follows three young men attempting to escape poverty by ascending a heavily guarded hill rumored to lead to opportunity and security. As the climb progresses, the rules governing the system slowly reveal themselves, and desperation fractures trust. What begins as collective ambition devolves into betrayal, forcing each character to confront what they are willing to sacrifice … not just materially, but morally … to survive.

The story interrogates class mobility, scarcity, and the psychological effects of hierarchical class systems, where one person’s rise requires another’s fall. In its expanded form, Zero Sum deepens the emotional and ethical consequences of ambition, culminating in a final transformation after ascent that assimilates the protagonist within the very system he sought to escape. The accompanying script represents a foundational draft intended for further development into a standalone episode or feature-length film.

About Me

I’m currently a senior film major at Northwestern University and recently studied at Prague Film School, where I wrote and directed multiple short films. Alongside developing original narrative work, I’m focused on gaining hands-on experience in professional film and television production.

I’m drawn to film because it can explore and convey universal themes through simple actions, with a creative freedom few other mediums allow. My work focuses on ambition, class, and moral compromise through everyday characters placed in heightened situations. I’m especially drawn to stories that use genre as a lens for social reality, where entertainment and meaning coexist.
